Vintage Hand-Loomed Huipil in Faded Grey & Terracotta

This authentic vintage piece features a rare and beautiful color story. The foundation is a faded charcoal grey hand-loomed cotton, providing a muted, sophisticated backdrop for vibrant horizontal bands of terracotta, rich burgundy, and multicolored geometric motifs.

The contrast between the dark, weathered base and the warm earth tones creates a striking bohemian aesthetic that feels both historic and timeless.

Artisanal Details

  • Traditional Backstrap Weave: The heavy-weight cotton base is hand-loomed, creating a unique ribbed texture that modern machinery cannot replicate.

  • Rich Color Palette: Deep terracotta and burgundy stripes are accented by fine multicolor details in the geometric embroidery.

  • Structured Silhouette: A classic boxy cut with a square neckline and wide sleeves for a relaxed, effortless drape.

Vintage Character & Imperfections

This garment is a genuine vintage textile. We celebrate the "perfection of the imperfect," and the following traits are what give this piece its authentic bohemian soul:

  • Faded Patina: The grey base has a beautiful, naturally faded quality that highlights its vintage age.

  • Loomed Irregularities: As a handmade item, you may find small loose threads, minor pulls, or slight variations in the weave. These are natural characteristics of the hand-loomed process.

  • Lived-in Details: Minor fraying at the edges or softened fibers are signs of its history and journey, adding a layer of character that mass-produced items lack.

Care & Styling

  • Styling: This piece looks incredible paired with dark-wash denim or layered over a black slip dress to lean into the moodier grey tones.

  • Care: Hand wash cold with mild detergent and lay flat to dry. Do not wring, as this preserves the integrity of the vintage loomed fibers.

Find Your Perfect Fit

Our Mayan tops are handcrafted using traditional weaving techniques, resulting in a beautiful, relaxed silhouette. Because these pieces do not follow standard factory sizing, we provide two ways to ensure you find the perfect fit.

1. Measure Your Body

Compare your total body circumference to the chart below to find your equivalent US Size.

US Size (Number) Fits Bust (Total Circumference) Best For Letter Size
0 – 2 32" – 33" Extra Small (XS)
4 – 6 34" – 35" Small (S)
8 – 10 36" – 37" Medium (M)
12 – 14 38" – 40" Large (L)
16 – 18 41" – 43" Extra Large (XL)
18 – 20 44" – 46" 2XL / 1X

2. The "Flat Lay" Method (Recommended)

The easiest way to know how a top will drape is to measure a shirt you already love.

  1. Lay your favorite non-stretch top flat on a table.

  2. Measure across the chest from armpit to armpit (this is the Flat Width).

  3. Compare that number to the "Flat Width" listed in our product details.

Note on Handmade Items: Since each piece is individually handwoven, please allow for a slight variation of 0.5" to 1" in measurements. This uniqueness is part of the charm of artisanal textiles!

Why "Flat Width" Matters

If our Mayan top has a Flat Width of 22", it has a Total Circumference of 44".

  • If your bust is 36", this top will have a beautiful, oversized look with plenty of room.

  • If your bust is 42", this top will provide a more tailored, standard fit.
