Welcome to Saviaguate, a place where Guatemala's spirit is lovingly infused into every crafted piece
I’m Leslie Cruz, the founder and heart behind our vibrant brand.
My story with Saviaguate began with a deep-seated love for my country's rich culture and traditions, a love that was kindled in the bustling markets of Guatemala alongside my grandmother. It was there, amid the colors and textures of artisanal treasures, that the seeds of this venture were sown.
Saviaguate didn't emerge overnight. It blossomed from generations of tenacious women entrepreneurs and artisans in my family, women who believed in the beauty of creating with their hands and the power of preserving our cultural heritage. My upbringing was a tapestry of their stories, skills, and the unwavering resolve to create something meaningful and enduring.
Our mission
Shine a light on the meticulous craftsmanship of Guatemalan artisans
Celebrating the indigenous cultures and contributing to a brighter future for the communities behind our products. Each piece from Saviaguate doesn't just carry the essence of Guatemala but also tells the tale of empowerment and resilience.
Our Pivot to a Global Presence
The journey hasn’t been without its challenges. In March 2020, as the world reeled from the pandemic, Saviaguate had to adapt quickly. With markets and pop-ups no longer viable, I turned to the digital realm to reach our patrons. It was the unique Mayan fabric face masks that caught everyone’s attention and set us apart. This pivot not only sustained Saviaguate but also expanded our horizons, inviting a global audience to embrace our story and products.
The Philosophy of Growth
Guided by the ethos of my upbringing — hard work, innovation, and adaptability — I have learned that true success is not just about putting in the hours but about working smart and embracing the continuous journey of learning and unlearning. It is about harnessing tradition to forge new paths and achieving goals with ingenuity and heart.
